Calcium is good for you.
As always, be careful and don't do anything wrong with this info. Get some calcium carbide. This is the stuff that is used in carbide lamps and can be found at most hardware stores. Take a few pieces of this stuff (looks like gravel) and put it in a glass jar with some water. Screw a lid on tightly. The carbide will react with water to produce acetylene carbonate which is similar to the gas used in cutting torches. Eventually the glass with explode from internal pressure. If you leave a burning rag nearby, you will get a nice fireball!
This isn't too useful as an explosive but if you wanted to create a distraction with a time delay or just startle the hell out of somebody it might be good to know. Now if you placed the glass container in the back of somebody's car and they happened to be a smoker you might be able to cause some burns, but it really isn't likely, and when you failed, you'd lose the element of surpise. Sends a pretty clear message though if you're into that kind of thing.
Really though, this is more suited for strategical use then actually hurting anybody IMO.

This could be useful info. I like to blow stuff up, not hurt anybody so this looks like fun.

ReplyDeleteA big fat distraction, eh? Anything exploding could distract someone, but this is more like a mini-frag grenade.

ReplyDeleteknowing my luck i would blow off my face
ReplyDeletePlease be careful with Carbides! Especially this method could do you severe harm, because the pressure in the glass could become too high, causing an explosion (exothermal reaction with itself).
