Well here I am again with not much to post about, so I'll just answer a question from yesterday. I was asked "could you do a tutorial on adding the ads to the bottom of the page because I don't want them in my face when I'm commenting and I would like a sleek look." Many of you probably know this already, but for those who don't I'm always happy to answer questions.
Changing the location of ads is really easy. Log in and go to the Design tab. From there you can click and drag the adsense gadget wherever you want it. Like this:
That'll take yo to the following page, where you can costomize your ad placement. Select the settings shown and hit next. You'll get a message asking you to confirm the setting and you just hit ok and you're done.
If you want them in the sidebar and at the bottom of the page, but not below your posts, just follow the steps above to remove the ones below posts, and then add another adsense gadget at the bottom.
Clicking Add a Gadget(in the design tab will bring you to the window seen below, click the plus sign as shown. You'll be taken to a settings page but you probably don't need to mess with the settings, so just click save.
That was probably more info than you needed but I was a little unclear about the way you wanted your ads set up, so I covered most of the possibilities.
If anybody else has questions, feel free to ask and I'll be happy to cover whatever subject you want to know about. Seriously, no question is too small or silly, I've covered some pretty basic stuff already so if theres something you want to know about, I'd be glad to have some more material for posts. Let me know in the comments.
Very good info, AdSense is important but you don't want too many ads or your blog will look bad!, supporting like always!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I actually Was a bit confused about the different between "ads on my feed" and the adsense "add/customize" option under the Monetize tab.
ReplyDeleteAdsense 101: You WILL get banned. It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of "when."
ReplyDelete@¡ɥsoſ,
ReplyDeletelol, yeah that's what i hear but it hasn't happened to me...yet.
Thanks for the info.

it's a nice addition to your blog, and sometimes people relate enough to your posts that the ads are relevant to their interests. i think you have to have it for a loooong time in order to see any benefits out of the advertising, but it's something you can do for google and such.
ReplyDeletethanks for this, even when nearly all should know this. who asked this? :D
ReplyDelete@jonwinters,
ReplyDeleteinteresting perspective, but i don't think you have to have it for a long time to see a benefit. i've already seen some benefit from it. i havent gotten a check yet, but my blog has only been around less than a month.
@anon,
ReplyDeletei agree that most people already know this, or should, it was somebody in the comments on yesterday's article, and i feel the only dumb question is the one you don't ask, so i took the time to cover this anyway...that and i just didn't have anything better to post about, lol.
I doubt you'd be banned for this - it's one of your many tutorials on how to use blogspot; how could anyone put a comprehensive tutorial together without covering adsense? Absurd.
ReplyDeleteI did it something like 2 days ago :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info man! Always handy!
ReplyDeleteDo you know if it's possible to add extra links on your "Pages" bar?
That wasn't so complicated now.
ReplyDeleteBasic stuff but well taught as usual, Anonymouse.
ReplyDeleteThanks, always good to know.
ReplyDeletethank you sir
ReplyDelete@Anon Reader,
ReplyDeleteI don't think he was saying I'd get banned for posting this, he was just saying that adsense bans everybody eventually for one reason or another. I agree that posting this is not likely to be seen as a violation of their terms.
really good tips. thank you :)
ReplyDeletei'm interested in why they ban people and how they justify it given their Terms and Conditions...if you don't break them...time will tell i suppose
ReplyDeletead sense is a beautiful thing
ReplyDeletevery helpful, thank you
ReplyDeleteknew this already aha
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information dude.
ReplyDeleteHurray, I did already know this one, but very helpful to some people I'm sure
ReplyDeleteNice advice, I know how to do this
ReplyDeleteI hope they NEVER EVER EVER ban you, till we all die.You have so helpful posts that i get consumed by the awesomeness. This post is simple and easy but i consider people that know less than me.Thanks for sharing anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've actually been wondering how to do this, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHad no idea you could customize locations. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff man. Im really curious as to how they determine "bannings" and such. I'd hate for hard work to go to waste.

yeah, i'm a little curious what determines if you get hit with the ban-hammer myself. i have some theories but i dont know for sure. i'd think if you follow their terms and conditions you should be ok. don't click your own ads or anything like that obviously.
ReplyDeleteAlready knew it but useful for some people for sure.
ReplyDeletecool tutorial
ReplyDeletecan u do a tut on how to get the comments to pop out into another smaller window?
ReplyDeleteThanks man! It was aggravating me before with the yellow ads on the black background. Great instructions and great post. Don't really know of another topic at the moment.
ReplyDeleteKnew this :) Good tutorial however! Might send it to a few of my friends!
ReplyDelete@epicwallpapersandart,
ReplyDeletei could've sworn i already did that subject, but oddly i don't see it anywhere... so yeah, thats what i'll do next. thanks for the topic, I was really having trouble coming up with something. it'll go up at midnight CST. :)
